Aberdeen Bowling Club – Update April 2022

April 2022

Dear Members

Hopefully everyone is keeping safe and well. We are looking forward to the Opening of our Green on Saturday 16th April at 2.00pm and hope that all our members will be able to attend. A warm welcome awaits you as we launch into our 2022 season.

The weather forecast is looking good and we have our own local celebrity lined up to do the honours of the official opening

Competition entry forms will be available for you to sign up to the many competitions we have on offer this season. You will also be able to collect your coffee morning tickets.

If you have not already done so please ensure that you have paid your fees as we need names of members for the 2022 Club Handbook that Julie has been working on. We also need to pay the appropriate affiliation fees to national bowling associations.

We are still looking for new members to ensure the future of our club so please feel free to bring along a friend or recommend the club to friends, relatives or anyone who is looking to take up a new sport.

There are bowls available at the club for anyone who wishes to have a go.

We now have our new website up and running so please log in and have a look. www.aberdeenbowlingclub.com) We will try and update all the forthcoming events on the website and keep members updated of our calendar of events for 2022.

We already have our first two friendly matches organised and look forward to players of all standards signing up to make the afternoons successful and fun. The sign up sheets are on the club noticeboard but dates are as follows:-

Saturday 23rd April – Away game against Polmuir – we need 5 rinks (20 players for this event)

Saturday 30th April – Home game against Newhills – again 5 rinks (20 players).

The games begin at 2.00 pm. Dress code for friendly games is Grey/ black trousers (long or short) and white or regulation bowling tops.

We have been working hard to spruce up the clubhouse and grounds but would welcome any donations of hanging baskets or flower pots for around the green.

We had a very successful fun bingo afternoon at the beginning of the month with many guests attending. We have organised some fun afternoons throughout the season with bowling/fish and chips, bowling/barbecue and we have our club coffee morning on the 2nd July.

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who has come along to help out with gardening, cleaning and maintenance over the last few weeks. Your help and support is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Presidents Karen and Val

and the Committee of Aberdeen Bowling Club
