Dear Members
Hopefully everyone is keeping well and enjoying our lovely summer weather.
We have had a busy time at the green with the club competitions nearing the finals. We had a very successful Carlton Trophy on the 6 August, the weather was beautiful and it was lovely to see so many people at the green. We had many spectators who came along to meet up with friends, watch the bowling and enjoy the camaraderie at the fish and chip supper afterwards. The final rounds were played on Sunday the 7 August – congratulations to the runners up Susan Martin and Alec Marjoriebanks and the winners Karen Cable and Brian Adie.
Thanks to our members for signing for the Dunnotar Cup as we were able to enter a team for the competition on Monday 8 August with three rinks playing. It was a beautiful day and our team played exceptionally well against Brechin putting us forward to the semi final which will be played this coming Monday 15 August. At 10.00 am. We wish the team good luck and hope that they have a super morning despite the early start!
We have our last friendly fixture today at Aberdeen and will be playing against Culter bowling club at 2.00pm. The weather is looking very promising again and we are looking forward to welcoming Culter to our green.
We had a committee meeting yesterday and are pleased to let you know that our accounts for this year are in good health. We have a couple of new members recently and extend a warm welcome to them.
We have been working hard on keeping our clubhouse and grounds in good order. We greatly appreciate the time and effort of our members who have given up to do the gardening and maintenance jobs – a huge thank you to all involved. As our clubhouse is quite old we have to keep atop of the maintenance and work is in hand for repairing the skylight and some of the roofing tiles.
The ADLBA team is through to the final stages of the Inter Association Matches. The final will take place at Cardonald on 3 September. Our club has been represented in the team by Karen Cable. We wish the team well at the final stages of this competition.
