Aberdeen Bowling Club update September 2021

Dear Members

As our season comes to a close we have some final updates for you.

Tomorrow (Saturday 4th September) is the ladies finals. Julie Reid and Moira Keay will play against each other in the singles and Frances Thomson and Dorren Adie will play against Karen Cable and Anne Taylor in the pairs. Members are invited to come along and watch the matches which will be followed by drinks and nibbles for all. Games begin at 1.30 pm so we are hoping for a fine day and some hearty support from spectators.

We have two Thursday afternoon hats left in the season and it would be lovely to see as many members come along and join in.

The closing of the green will take place on Saturday 18th September. There will be bowling at 2.00pm followed by cheese and wine and presentation of trophies. We will have a raffle on the day (raffle prizes will be gratefully accepted). It would be lovely to see as many of our members as possible attend this event so please come along and join in the camaraderie.

Apart from our three indoor games which have been organised we are hoping to run some winter activities at the club to fundraise and to enable members to keep in touch with their bowling buddies over the winter season. If you have not signed up for the indoor games yet but would like to attend please sign up at the club, reply to this e-mail or give us a phone to note your interest.

Our first winter activity will be on Saturday 16th October at 2.00 pm in the clubhouse. We intend having a bingo afternoon followed by fish and chips. All members and guests are invited to come along. Please let us know if you would like to attend as we need to sort out orders for fish and chips and get bingo books organised . The cost will be £10 – prizes for the bingo will include cash prizes. Please sign up at the club or reply to this email to note your interest. If we do not have enough support for this event we may have to cancel.

We have a good number of people who have already signed up for a Christmas lunch. We are hoping for this to be at the Atholl Hotel at the beginning of December. More information will follow. Closing date for numbers will Saturday 18th September.

Kindest regards
Presidents Val and Karen and your committee.
