I hope you are keeping safe and well. We had a very successful AGM on Sunday so a big thank you to all members who attended.
We discussed the increase in fees for 2025 and the ensuing vote was in favour of the proposed increase. The fees for 2025 are as follows:-
Ordinary members £150.00 with £20.00 joining fee for new members
Junior members up to 14 years £20.00, 15 – 17 years £25.00 both with £5.00 joining fee

We are looking forward to the Opening of our Green on Saturday 12 April at 2.00pm and hope that all our members will be able to attend. A warm welcome awaits you as we launch into our 2025 season. The official opening is at 2.00pm but please come along for around 1.30pm so that you can sign up for a game of bowls. The afternoon will be as follows – Official opening, a short game of bowls, afternoon tea. Hopefully the sun will shine for us and we will have a fine day
In preparation for the Opening of the Green we invite members to come along on Saturday 29 March at around 9.30am to help out with cleaning the clubhouse and preparing the green and grounds for opening (putting out benches, arranging rinks, weeding and gardening etc). Coffee and cake will be provided for the workers!(many hands make light work). Coffee and cake will be provided for willing workers. If more preparation is required we will also have a hands on session on Saturday 5 April at 9.30am. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for further updates.
Competition entry forms will hopefully be available for you to sign up to the many competitions we have on offer this season. You will also be able to collect your June coffee morning tickets and sign up for our 50/50 Club which we will be running again this season.
Norman has been busy getting our calendar organised with friendly fixtures and club events. Our match committee will get together to agree dates for all our club competitions. The application form for club competitions will be available at the club at the opening of the green We hope that members will enter as many club competitions as possible. Susan Martin has also been busy with the ladies calendar and liaising with the ALDBA to ensure that our ladies are aware of dates for IAT trials and top ten matches.
There are trials at Whitehall Bowling club on Saturday 26 April at 10.00am and Saturday 3 May at 10.00am at Newhills Bowling club for any of our lady members who wish to trial for the ADLBA Inter Association Team. Please let Susan Martin our team rep know ASAP if you are interested in attending.
After the success of last years Macmillan Coffee Morning it was decided that we should repeat a beginning of season charity event to include the community and give them a chance to come along for coffee and fun bowls in the hope that friends, families, neighbours and prospective members will be able to come along and view our facilities and see what bowling is all about. We hope to raise money for Roxburghe House this year a local charity that does tremendous work to support patients requiring palliative care. We would ask you to put this date in your diaries and spread the word in the hope that we have a great turn out. More information on this event will follow.
We are still looking for new members to ensure the future of our club so please feel free to bring along a friend or recommend the club to friends, relatives or anyone who is looking to take up a new sport.
There are bowls available at the club for anyone who wishes to have a go.
We have one more friendly match organised for the Indoor Bowling – this has now been changed to Sunday 16 March at 4.00pm. The game will be followed by a meal. The cost will be £17. Please let Norman know if you would like to play. These games are always fun and we hope to see as many of you as possible. We definitely require more members to sign up for this game so that we don’t have to cancel.
Kind regards
President Karen
and the Committee of Aberdeen Bowling Club
