Aberdeen Bowling Club Update - June 2026
Dear Member,
We have received great news from Charlie House informing us that we managed to raise £615 at our Charity Coffee Morning. This is a great boost to the charity’s funding and a tremendous effort from all of our members who put in a great deal of work to make this event a success. A huge thank you to our members for all the lovely home baking and for the generous raffle donations. We really appreciated the time and effort from our members. Please extend our thanks to friends and family who attended the event. The raffle raised a considerable amount of money so again thank you to everyone who bought tickets. The lovely-knitted dolls were much appreciated too. Another great success for the club!
We will be drawing the first 50/50 club draw at our Committee Meeting next Friday 26 June. If you haven’t yet signed up for this prestigious lottery you still have time! Just let our treasurer know. The cost is £100 to enter and each month we will draw three winning numbers for cash prizes. You have to be in it to win it!
I’m sure you have all been keeping an eye on your sweepstake teams in the World Cup 2026. It has been very exciting watching the teams play with some unexpected results so far.
Our Aberdeen Club players have played very well in the Bowls Scotland play offs. Our senior players haven’t made the final cut for Ayr this year, but we are delighted that our under 17 player, Lewis Reid will be playing in the National Championships at Ayr in the junior triples. We wish Lewis all the best and look forward to following his progress. Congratulations Lewis.
Our club fixtures are under way, and our first-round matches should all be played by the 28 June. If you have not yet arranged your matches for the first rounds, please have a look at the notice boards and get your games organised before the deadline, as it is important that we do not fall behind with our schedules.
Unfortunately, our Saturday friendly against Polmuir this Saturday 20 June at Polmuir Bowling Club has been cancelled. We are hoping to reschedule later in the season.
The 3 bowl mixed pairs is now scheduled for Saturday 27 June with a 2.30pm start. We are hoping to have fish and chips after the match - order on the day, so if you are involved or would still like to add your name to the list for this please do so before Tuesday 23 June when the competition will be drawn. We would ask that you bring money (approx. £12) for your fish and chips if you intend staying.
In the meantime, enjoy your bowling and the best of luck in all your games.
Kind regards
President Karen
